About this opportunity
Imagine Cup 2027 is Microsoft's global startup competition, now open to early-stage software startups rather than only students. You choose one of seven categories: Developer tools, Retail, Healthcare & life sciences, Cybersecurity, Financial services, Deep tech + physical AI, or Student startup. Student founders are encouraged to enter the Student Startup category, which is judged on criteria designed for student-stage companies.
To enter, your startup must be a registered legal entity founded on or after 2 November 2024, with no Series C or later funding. Individual entrants must be 18 or older, and you can register up to four team members. You'll also need an Azure Subscription ID and a Microsoft for Startups account.
The prizes are substantial. The Champion wins USD 250,000 cash plus USD 1,000,000 in Startup Credits. Second place gets USD 50,000 and USD 350,000 in credits, and third gets USD 25,000 and USD 350,000 in credits. The Top Student Startup wins USD 25,000 and USD 250,000 in credits. Category winners and the Top 20 get recognition, enterprise access and mentorship.
Applications close at 11:59 p.m. CST on 28 February 2027. Apply through Award Force with a pitch deck, a 2–3 minute demo video, an Azure architecture overview and written responses. Start gathering these now, and double-check everything, because you can't edit after submitting.
