Impact AI Fellowship 2027, Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG)

The Impact AI Fellowship at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in Berlin lets you learn a new impact assessment method and use it on a real "AI for good" project. Over ten weeks (16 August – 22 October 2027), you will run a complete assessment, from preparing and conducting interviews to analysing data and writing the final report. You will be guided by the Impact AI research team. It is for people with a master's degree who work in academia, journalism, civil society, public institutions or companies, and who care about AI, sustainability or the public interest. Experience in the field helps, but an academic track record is not required. They want diverse backgrounds, curiosity and reliability. You receive a fixed stipend of €5,000 for the ten weeks, plus individual support for travel and accommodation as far as capacity allows. You also get training, supervision, peer learning, and lead authorship of a case report. Weeks 1 and 7 are full-time in Berlin. The other weeks can be part-time and remote. A mandatory online preparatory session takes place on 11 May 2027. Apply by 15 January 2027 through the online form.
